Don't ponder gray
skies or paint
drab angels to flit
around my head.

Take me fishing,
give me one day
to leap over piles
of laundry, mingle
my whites with rich
earth, find a worm,
Rig my cane pole,
hook and bobber.

Let me see line
sail across water,
watch as it falls to
a perfect spot by the bank.
Feel tugs between fingers
as turtles nibble delicate bait.

Please take me fishing,
we might become friends.
